I’m Pepe Mendez and since 2007 I have worked in photography with a strong foundation in photojournalism. That experience as a press photographer is at the heart of my approach to professional portrait photography: I wait, observe and seek the image that truly shows who you are, removing the superfluous and keeping what matters. I work from Madrid Centro and focus on professional portraiture as my main specialty. My aim is for your photo to convey professionalism and warmth at the same time. I pay attention to small gestures, genuine expression and naturalness: you don’t need to be conventionally photogenic to look good in photos — you just need to be yourself. I guide each person during the session, from which posture works best to what clothing can communicate more effectively, to deliver portraits that work across LinkedIn, CVs, corporate websites and professional profiles. I usually work at the client’s workplace: I set up a portable lighting kit adapted to the environment so sessions are comfortable and efficient for executives and teams. During the shoot we review and select images on a computer, involving you in the final choice so the photos reflect the image you want to project. Although my main focus is professional portrait photography, I also shoot corporate sessions for teams and executives, ensuring the visual coherence a company needs. I apply the same photojournalistic eye that trained me to capture direct, purposeful and communicative images: clear, usable portraits with personality and intent.
